Supervision

School of Play offers a unique supervision experience that allows a student to work flexible hours while accruing both restricted and unrestricted hours. Provision of Supervisory services are contingent upon employment with School of Play and hours accrued elsewhere must be listed under a separate supervisor.

What will Supervision be like?

Level 1: The supervision experience begins with at least 40 hours of RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) Training, provided by School of Play. This training includes observation of sessions as well as hands on interaction with children.

Level 2: The supervisee then spends their next level of supervision working directly with children under the direction of a BCBA with over 10 years of experience. This time is spent learning strategies and techniques and applying basic terminology and problem solving skills.

Level 3: Once mastery is achieved in these areas, the supervisee will be assigned a case under the direct supervision of a BCBA and will begin accruing unrestricted hours. The supervisee will begin to write various documents, maintain graphs, and will be expected to bring solutions and ideas. Gradually, the BCBA will transition responsibilities to the supervisee. At this level, the supervisee will be meeting weekly with the BCBA 1:1.

Licensure: A supervisee will be eligible for their Behavior Specialist License from PA once they have received their Master’s Degree. At this time, the student will also begin parent trainings, with which they will have assisted previously.

Board Certification: At School of Play we recognize that mentorship continues to be important as the “newly minted” BCBA begins their career. If offered a position at School of Play as a BCBA, supervision continues for the first year with weekly mentorship meetings with the School of Play senior BCBAs.

We strive to invest in our students so that they are empowered to change lives in meaningful, compassionate ways regardless of their future endeavors.
